For over 10 years, we've listened to architects, head teachers, contractors and project managers about finger guards – enabling us to design, test and manufacture a range of finger guard products that keep little fingers safe.
Designed specifically for high traffic environments, like schools, our range of cost-effective finger guards provide robust protection and meet any project requirement. Engineered to last, they reduce maintenance costs, provide superior finger protection and look discreet.
The result? We are the industry standard for finger guards, used by 80% of Local Education Authorities and meet Employer's Requirements.
Having grown frustrated with the lack of durability with plastic finger guards, Caerphilly Local Education Authority requested our integral finger guards. The discrete design blended seamlessly with the school environment whilst also increasing durability.
Worcesters Primary School initially requested 20 integral finger guards as part of an extension. They were so happy with the quality and sleek aluminium finish that, the following year, they ordered 80 retrofit surface-mounted finger guards for the existing building.
Lancasterian Sen School approached us as wheelchair damage was causing plastic finger guards to split or tear within weeks. We supplied our extreme duty finger guard (Alufast) as the solid aluminium construction would keep fingers safe and protect doors from damage.
Keen to create a 'home away from home' environment, Ronald McDonald Charity required finger guards that were discreet and unobtrusive. That's why they chose our integral finger guards, blending seamlessly into the environment, whilst also increasing safety and durability.
To combat a tough combination of high user traffic and high moisture content, our integral finger guards were installed throughout this award-winning leisure centre. Their discrete nature also matched the Pod's exterior which was designed to blend in seamlessly with its natural surroundings.
At the heart of their refurbishment process, Sheffield Children’s Hospital wanted to seamlessly balance safety with homeliness, creating a non-institutional environment for children of all ages. Naturally, the Trust chose to install our integral finger guards (Alumax).
The new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary opened in late 2017, with 344 single-bed rooms. Our clever finger-ejecting guards were used on automatic doors throughout to comply with BS7036 and on all hinged doors in the paediatric ward to keep little fingers safe.
This award-winning, modern education space uses our integral finger guard throughout – keeping children’s fingers safe without compromising on aesthetics, while being durable enough to last in a high traffic school environment.
Commended as "light, bright, straightforwardly organised and carefully detailed" by the Architects' Journal, Bellenden Primary School is the latest in a long line of schools that Cottrell and Vermuelen has completed for the Borough - and one of many new build schools to use our integral finger guards.
