SHEFFIELD CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL

To continue the high-quality care Sheffield Children’s Hospital provides, the Trust began a lengthy modernisation process in 2014.  It involved the refurbishment and rebuilding of part of the existing hospital as well as the development of an entirely new building.

At the heart of this modernisation process was the desire to seamlessly balance safety with homeliness, creating a non-institutional environment for children of all ages.  Naturally, the Trust chose to install our integral finger guards (Alumax).

Seamlessly blending in with the environment

Seamlessly blending in with the environment

With children and their families arriving at the hospital through a light-filled atrium, the architects continued this homely and friendly feel throughout the rest of the hospital. Our finger guards helped to achieve this.

  • Designed to blend seamlessly into any environment, they are almost invisible to the eye, helping to create a normal environment for children
  • Meeting the Trust’s requirements to create bright and colourful areas for children, they powder coated our integral finger guards in a range of RAL colours

Offering superior safety and practicality

Designed specifically with children in mind, that the Trusted needed to ensure safety and practicality on a day-to-day basis.

Designing out the problem of trapped fingers by removing the dangerous gap between door and frame, our integral finger guards made it almost impossible for a child to trap their fingers in the door

Lasting the lifetime of the door, they provide practicality for this high traffic environment, removing the need for regular replacements and saving the Trust £500-£1,000 over the door’s life.

Offering superior safety and practicality
