Design Champion
Safehinge understands the role good design has to play in transforming public services, and this is especially important given the current scale of investment in public building.
Design Champions provide leadership and motivation for the Government's 'Better Public Building' initiative, which stresses the importance to deliver high quality buildings with a strong focus on lifetime costs, quality and design.
Good design is not an optional extra. It is a core requirement of public procurement and has to combine fitness-for-purpose with whole life costs to achieve value for money. Design Champions play a critical role in delivering this agenda, often in the face of competing challenges such as time and budget.
Design Champions and Safehinge understand the importance of achieving quality in capital developments, ranging from major PFI to smaller community projects.
Safehinge has defined the new best practice in finger protection for doors, designed specifically for schools, hospitals and other public realm buildings. Safehinge ALU is fully integrated and will last the life of the door, eliminating the need for unsightly retrofit hinge guards that in most cases are not fit-for-purpose.
By promoting Safehinge as the new best practice, your organisation could achieve substantial whole life cost savings - around £500 per door - on maintenance costs over the 25 year life of a building when compared to retrofit hinge guards.
