Safehinge launch ALU for Mental Health

Earlier last month we launched our flagship ALU product to the healthcare sector.  Using an innovative promotion highlighting the dangers of doors, we asked visitors at two of the country's largest healthcare conferences, The Future Health and Care Expo (London) and IHEEM (Manchester) to "Take the carrot challenge".

Traditional doors are dangerous.  The gap which is created when the door is opening and closing acts as a cutting mechanism and is a risk for patient safety.  In mental health facilities traditional doors can be used as a means of patient self-harm.  The Department for Health document HTM58 recommends the use of finger protection in healthcare environments.

With this in mind, we set out a campaign to raise awareness on the dangers of traditional hinges and pivots used in healthcare facilities.  Visitors to the Safehinge stand at the FHCE and IHEEM exhibitions were given carrots in place of fingers in order to put traditional hinges and pivots to the test against Safehinge ALU for Mental Health.

The Safehinge ALU for Mental Health has been designed to provide an all in one solution for full door safety to provide:

  • Anti-Ligature
  • Anti-Barricade
  • Anti-Finger Trap
