Safehinge and Morgan Ashurst would like to invite you to an exclusive preview of a new safety best practice in the field of finger protection for doors. The event will take place at St Thomas Primary School in Waterloo Road, Manchester on September 29 from 10am - 2pm.
Every year, around 30,000 children trap and seriously injure their fingers in doors and more than 1,500 of these will require surgery (ROSPA). In addition, Manchester City Council and Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital commented current retrofit hinge covers typically fail within 6 - 12 months of installation.
Safehinge ALU removes these safety and maintenance concerns by solving the problem at source and eliminating the need for retrofit solutions. Integrated finger protection, which is installed once, lasts the lifetime of the door, and offers whole-life cost savings up to 75 per cent (around a £500 saving per door) when compared with conventional retrofit hinge cover solutions.
Construction company Morgan Ashurst installed Safehinge ALU in the new £6.8 million St Thomas School in Waterloo Road, Manchester, which it is building for Manchester City Council. It is estimated the product will save £17,000 in the whole-life costs of the school.
The authority's school building department was the first to install the award-winning Safehinge ALU and were so impressed they now specify it in all new primary and special needs schools.
Now Safehinge, in conjunction with Manchester City Council and Morgan Ashurst, are pleased to invite you to an exclusive site visit on September 29, from 10am-2pm, to preview the full Safehinge ALU product installed in a classroom setting at St Thomas School.
Alistair Burns, design manager Manchester Schools Framework and Peter Hemphill, BSF design manager and design champion for Nottingham City Council, will both be on hand throughout the day to illustrate the benefits of the Safehinge ALU product.
